Program Benefits
Participation in the McNair Scholars Program will require more work than many students may do to earn their baccalaureate degrees. However, McNair Scholars will have much more going for them than many of their peers because they will:

Receiving individual attention and assistance in setting and acheiving goals.

Identify their interests and develop a sense of self-confidence and pride in achievement that can be conveyed to others

Know how to conduct a successful research project, give a professional presentation, and write a scholarly research paper

Receive financial assistance to attend professional conferences and visit potential graduate schools

Be prepared for graduate study

Develop collegial relationships with faculty members who can provide strong references

Be eligible for application fee waivers and graduate fellowships at supporting institutions
